I find inspiration in the most surprising places. From the mid-century artists who I admire so, to the local San Francisco Mission School painters, to the constant stream of new bands (be they electronic or shoe gazers), to the strange and sublime colors of the desert or a parking lot sunset, to the fascinating things happening in architecture, design and the decorative arts. The world is full of visual mystery if you dare to look. Inspiration is everywhere. About :
Rex Ray is a San Francisco based fine artist and commercial artist whose work ranges from collage on paper to canvas and resin boards to digital pieces that combine a mid-century modern aesthetic with a psychedelic color palette. He's designed home furnishings under his brand Rex Ray Studio and stationary and accessories under the R2 Lab label. He's also designed for big name corporations, including Apple, Dreamworks, and Swatch, in addition to Blik wall graphics, Flavor Paper wallpaper, and tiles for modwalls. Abstract and handcrafted, with a retro-futuristic feel, Rex Ray’s work is always identifiable, whether seen on museum or gallery walls, in hip restaurants and boutique hotels — or on book, CD covers or rock posters.
